Accommodation

HH2012’s tournament hotel will be the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Completed in 1929 the hotel was the largest hotel in Canada and the tallest building in the British Empire. As one of the grand chateau-esque hotels remaining from Canada’s railway expansion, the Royal York maintains a touch of the elegance and sophistication of the roaring 1920s. The hotel is located in the financial district and has an underground link to the rapid transit that will take debaters to the University campus. The Royal York is often the centre of large events, and will host the delegation heads when Toronto hosts the 2015 Pan-American Games. The hotel is also where Queen Elizabeth II stays when she visits Canada.
The hotel will host all of the debaters and judges for the duration of the tournament. It will also host the open-rounds in its sumptuous banquet halls and ball-rooms, so that no-one has to travel the day after their break-day. World’s Council will be held in a grand suite overlooking the skyline and Lake Ontario.

Rounds will be held at the University of Toronto’s historic downtown campus. All rounds will be within a 5 minute walk from the General Assembly, held in one of the many large lecture theatres.
